One-Day Great Barrier Reef Trip Cairns Dive Centre |
|
This trip is aboard M.V. Sun-Kist, a 60 foot Mono Hull with a maximum of 20 divers. It is for 1 day, and allows 2 dives.
Departure Information
Departure is from E Finger, Marlin Marina, Cairns at 8:30 AM every day, return time 4:30 PM.
The Dive
On this trip you’ll visit two of the outer reefs and dive once at each site. The skipper will choose between Milln, Briggs, Thetford, or Moore reefs, based on the weather, tides, and other factors that may affect dive conditions. Many dive boats do not visit the latter two reefs, so you should have them to yourselves when you dive there.
The Boat
The Sun-Kist is the boat used by the Cairns Dive Centre for their one-day dive trips. She’s a 60-foot, single-hulled dive boat. It takes about 90 minutes to get you out to the dive sites, which lie about 38 nautical miles (64 kilometers) offshore.
While listed as having a capacity of 48 persons, Cairns Dive Centre limits the number of divers and snorkelers to 20 to assure comfort and space for all aboard. This is one of the smallest groups that you can choose to dive with on a powerboat out of Cairns.
