This trip is aboard Odyssey, an 80 foot Catamaran with a maximum of 16 divers and a Dive Staff of 2. It is for 4 days, 3 nights, and allows 8 dives, plus 2 night dives.
Departure Information
Departure is from Fisherman's Wharf Marina, Hervey Bay at 8:00 PM, return time 8:00 PM.
The Dive
This three-night dive trip visits one of the prime dive spots in the Southern Great Barrier Reef, the Bunker Island group. This group of 15 isolated reef and atoll complexes, is only visited by one other dive company.
This infrequently visited area has very pristine diving, and has some of the only vegetated cays and islands on the entire Great Barrier Reef, as well as the reef’s largest enclosed atoll, Lady Musgrave Island. This area truly offers world class diving.
Two and a half of the days are dive days, and you will make up to 10 dives, during the trip, including two night dives.
The boat is an extremely well run boat, and the Dive Nomad staff focus on providing amazing diving under the water, and a casual and upbeat atmosphere on board the boat, with delicious chef-prepared meals and comfortable lounge areas, decks and cabins. With just 16 divers on board, the boat feels both spacious and friendly.
The Boat
The Odyssey is the largest live aboard dive boat operating on the Southern Great Barrier Reef. An 80-foot twin hull, she has ample space for up to 16 divers, with double, twin-share and quad share cabins.
The boat was custom built in 2006 by the present owner, so it's perfectly suited for extended remote dive trips. A huge fuel capacity, commercial galley, and freshwater making capacity, high tech navigation, and many other features make this boat ideal for extended cruises. There are ample enclosed and open air dining and lounge areas.
Odyssey is outfitted with all the latest electronics, divers will especially appreciate the plasma video, CD player, and Computers for saving digital images onto CD's or other memory media, as well as full satellite communications gear.
The boat is also well-equipped for diving. A stern-width dive deck has a short stairway descent to a water level entry platform. Two dive tenders permit groups do dive at more distant spots from the anchorage. A very quiet compressor keeps the tanks filled and ready to use.

About Nomad Dive

Dive Nomad is owned and operated by the Olsen family. The captain on nearly every trip is Damon Olsen, who after spending most of his life developing a passion for fishing, diving and the sea, decided two years ago to build a boat with his father and operate high quality extended live aboard diving and fishing trips on the more remote sections of the Great Barrier Reef, and out into the Coral Sea.
The company’s trips have proven a success, and provide some of the best live aboard diving to be had in the region.
