One-Day Budget Great Barrier Reef Dive Trip aboard Seaquest ADV Deep Sea Divers Den |
|
This trip is aboard SeaQuest ADV, a 75 foot Catamaran with a maximum of 75 divers. It is for 1 day, and allows 3 dives.
Departure Information
Departure is from Deep Sea Divers Den Terminal, Pier Marketplace, Cairns at 7:30 AM every day, return time 4:30 PM.
The Dive
This trip is a great value for keen divers. It is one of only two single-day dive trips operating out of the Cairns area where a diver can make three dives. The high speed and additional tank storage space on board this boat make this possible.
This dive trip is not just for divers though. Typically, over half of the eighty passengers are snorkelers. There will be lots of in-water time for snorkelers too, and ample opportunity for them to take one, or even up to three introductory scuba dives.
The boat will visit two different reefs, selecting the best conditions available from sites at Moore, Saxon, Norman, Michaelmas and other reefs. All of these reefs are located on the outer Eastern edge of the reef, where the dive conditions are best.
When the bar opens up on the way home there is time to relax, enjoy a coldie, and relax in the lounge or on the sundeck, a great and social way to end the day.
The Boat
The "ADV" in the name of this boat stands for "advanced diving vessel" and that is an appropriate name for the new, fast, and comfortable boat. This 76-foot vessel is set up and operated as a full-service, luxury one-day dive vessel. While licencsed to carry 60 passengers, a limit of 43 divers/snorkelers is set to ensure that there is ample space for everyone to enjoy themselves.
The Seaquest ADV cruises at 20 knots, and makes for a quick trip out to the reef. Amenities like hot showers, ample deck space, and the latest dive equipment make for a very easy and comfortable dive experience.

About Deep Sea Divers Den

Deep Sea Divers Den is one of the oldest, largest, and most experienced dive operations in Cairns. Their dive school is one of the two largest such operations in the world, and this year marks the debut of their newly refurbished facilities, and a new dive boat, the ReefQuest II. Besides running the full range of certification courses in four languages, they also operate three dive boats on a daily basis.
The Divers Den has been in operation since 1975, and the size of their operation allows them to do much of their staff training, boat, and equipment maintenance in house. Someone walked into our office recently who was certified and dove with DSDD in 1982, and while you might barely remember what you were doing in '82, Susan has fond and vivid memories of her dive experience.
